AD CAMPAIGN: ALEXANDER MCQUEEN SPRING/SUMMER 2013 BY DAVID SIMS
Posted on February 28, 2013
The apiculturist at one with her swarm – Raquel Zimmerman appears drenched in their golden ambrosia while also mimicking the botanical styled illustrations of the honey bee, in the new David Sims lensed Spring/Summer advertising campaign for Alexander McQueen.
The images capture Sarah Burton’s correlation between the qualities of the lowly bee and the female form through a clean, untarnished, almost clinical campaign that emphasizes the hip, bust and curvature through regal, dramatic and almost intimate poses, which invite us to thoroughly explore the details of each individual garment.
The rich caramel hued tortoise shell plexiglass accessories glisten like hardened honey drawing bee’s to the keeper against the white background and Raquel’s porcelain complexion, while the wide brimmed statement headpiece signifies her position as the one and only, McQueen Bee!
