Gabriella Wilde & Roo Paner star in a dramatic and cinematic black and white campaign for Burberry Prorsum shot by Mario Testino and under the creative direction of Christopher Bailey.

The campaign which was shot at the Royal Naval College in Greenwich, London, celebrates being british and once again Burberry have reinforced their support for nurturing rising british talent by having up and coming actress Gabriella Wilde and musician Roo Paner take centre stage in their cinematic story.

The campaign is typically Burberry, but the added drama from the film noir like composition, the wonderfully eerie london setting, black and white photography and of course being shot at night, separate it from their previous campaigns. I do however almost see this as a continuation, albeit aesthetically darker, of their autumn/winter 2008/9 campaign starring Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, (also shot by Testino). which Christopher Bailey described as, “capturing the poetic melancholy and romance of the winter collections.”

Although it is not particularly groundbreaking by Burberry’s standards, it does indeed sit perfectly with their branding and their penchant for ‘britishness’. As much as I am all for consistency in branding, I would not be adverse to a little more “chemistry” between the models to really take the brand to the next level.
