AD CAMPAIGN: ERMENEGILDO ZEGNA SPRING/SUMMER 2013 BY DAVID SIMS

Ermenegildo Zegna enlist model Ryan Burns for their latest campaign which oozes both a sense of luxury and sophistication while conveying their “passion for silk”, couture and timeless formalwear.

Being one of my favourite Spring/Summer collections, I adore the styling here, and although it’s somewhat “dandier” for Zegna, the campaign still manages to retain it’s high-end, luxe appeal without compromising on masculinity.

Being the brand’s staple fabric for summer, the silk’s attractive lustre is reflected, (pardon the pun), in the parallels drawn with the qualities of light, glass, and warped reflections of the mirrored panels, which along with the strong architectural lines of the steps, add yet another dimension to each image.

Finally, while I do find Ryan’s attitude rather intense, he portrays the SS13 “Zegna man” extremely well by wearing the slimmer silhouette and diverse mix of colours, 70s inspired prints and sporty textures with ease and finesse. This is by no means a campaign set out to shock, stand out or divide, but to remind us of why Ermenegildo Zegna are the considered the masters of Italian tailoring and craftsmanship, and will be for years to come.

Side-Note: The pistachio outfit, bag and shoes + the burgundy blazer, patterned trousers and teal polo are just sublime!
