AD CAMPAIGN: FENDI SPRING/SUMMER 2013 BY KARL LAGERFELD

Posted on January 11, 2013

For a collection that boasted sharp, strong and summer hued shapes, coupled with luxe furs and fierceness, Fendi’s Spring/Summer campaign unfortunately falls rather flat.

Check out the Karl Lagerfeld lensed campaign here.

And I mean flat in a literal sense! The cubist depth and geometry captured within the garments and accessories isn’t referenced anywhere else within the campaign, instead  an expressionless Kati Nescher & Saskia De Brauw strike angular poses (overshadowed by their bags) against a random backdrop of a rocky alcove opening out into a printed sea. The perspective and placement is strange, the retouching is uneven, and everything feels both disconnected and irrelevant, with the eye-catching yellow frame soon becoming an eyesore.

I think I speak for the majority when I say, “Step away from the camera Karl…”
