AD CAMPAIGN: MIU MIU AUTUMN/WINTER 2012/13, CHLÖE SEVIGNY BY MERT ALAS & MARCUS PIGGOTT

16 years later and actress Chlöe Sevigny is back to reprise her role as the Miu Miu muse for the Giovanni Bianco art directed and Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott lensed autumn/winter campaign.
The star playfully sips tea and tries on shoes while lounging boyishly in the brands latest collection in a very androgynous and David Bowie inspired styled shoot. Check it out!
I for one love the styling and the collection, but I’m not Chlöe’s biggest fan when it comes to her “modelling” career, and this campaign shows why. Some of the poses seem rather forced, and her facial expressions in places look very awkward. I understand Mert & Marcus were going for portrait-like shots, but a little more variety with the composition and maybe even more exaggerated facial expressions would have really made this campaign work better.
Overall Chlöe does fits the aesthetic of the brand and as mentioned previously, the styling and the colour combinations work well enough on her to successfully portray their “psychedelic hedonism” theme.
