AD CAMPAIGN: VALENTINO AUTUMN/WINTER 2012/13 BY DEBORAH TURBERVILLE
Posted on September 7, 2012
Valentino take us to the “Jewel of Sicilian Baroque architecture”, the extremley opulent Palazzao Valguarner-Gargi in Palermo, Sicily for their Deborah Tuberville lensed Autumer/Winter campaign starring models Frida Gustavsson, Jac Jagaciak and Caroline Brasch Nielsen. And while the set may be fabulous in all its gilded glory, I can’t help but feel that the campaign has a whole fall flat due to the detached models.
Check it out.
The values and traits of the “Valentino woman” are somewhat lost in this campaign. In fact there’s not much personality or life stemming from either Frida, Jac, or Caroline which is a real shame. Everything here is much too forced, pretentious and mannequin-like, whereas a slight romantic & seductive approach from the models would have gone perfectly with the setting and season, and breathed new life into the rather stiff campaign.
Elegant it may be, but alluring it isn’t.
