One of my favourites from NYFW, purely because it appeals to my inner sci-fi/ fantasy child.

Check out the images from the Alexander Wang Spring/Summer 2013 womenswear show at New York Fashion Week, with some of my key notes on colours and influences below.

The terms “futurist, modernist and minimalist”, spring to mind when looking at this heavenly collection, that boasts a severely monochromatic colour palette. Yet there was still a hint of classicism there. The primary focus was on the deconstructed items that looked as if they were held together by an unseen force, almost resembling some type of angelic armour. Sporty zip front Leather patched jackets, with bermuda shorts, boxy shirts with large collars in contrast materials, over-sized metallic jackets, T-shirts adorned with leather croc prints, contoured cut-out panels in shift dresses and skirts, and models with slick ponytails, knee high strappy sandals, and foreheads adorned with a symbolic metal stripe which gave the overall look a slight ethnic feel. And if that wasn’t enough otherworldly drama, the garments just happen to glow in the dark! Gives a whole new meaning to standing out from the crowd.
