For the first time, I feel the men’s S/S collection is on par with the women’s. Thank you Olivier Rousteing!

Check out the catwalk images from the Balmain Spring/Summer 2013 menswear showcase at Paris Fashion Week with some of my key notes on colours and influences below.

Influences of Military, biker, slightly preppy but with an emphasis on a laid back cool take precedent here and this is further achieved through the simple colour palette of sand, tan, olive, khaki, black, white and a punctuation of Teal. The Primary focus is on, as mentioned above, the laid back military style but with the inclusion of rolled up trousers and loafers to achieve a preppy/military hybrid – which conveys an easy to wear collection that stays true to the brands roots. Elsewhere brass buttons, leather biker jackets, strappy biker boots (which I need) in both brown and black,  leather shirts, epaulette details and fabulous cuts rule, while a show-stopping multi tan coloured embroidered jacket reigns supreme.

I know everyone is thinking it, so I’m just going to say it. I can definitely see this collection being “translated” into Zara stores everywhere next year.
