Here are a few selected RnB/Hip Hop cuts from my childhood that I found myself listening to and reminiscing over tonight. Enjoy!
The great thing about having LeiVanKash as a client, (aside from working alongside the beautiful Mrs Leila Kashanipour *saved*), is being able to purchase one of the must have items from their 5 distinct collections with a lil’ old “friendly” discount.
So naturally, taking advantage of such a perk, the next overdue ingredient to add to my already spell binding arm candy, was the Sterling Silver Dagger Bracelet with a neon green cord from the Damocles collection.
It’s bad enough that the “90s” are considered “vintage”, but yesterday, while still being in constant denial about turning 27 next week and having nothing to show for it, I began searching through multiple YouTube videos for trailers, music pieces and fan-made AMVs of the Final Fantasy series and came across something that nearly sent me over the edge – “Final Fantasy X – Retro Video Game Commercial.” RETRO!?! Are you f*cking kidding me?! That game was released in 2001! Then I realised, it had been 12 YEARS since the last installment of the Final Fantasy franchise under Square, (before it became the soulless Square-Enix).
So after having a major FML moment, and while my already collapsed world crumbled into dust having come to terms with becoming a has-been, (I can’t even work a PS3), I clicked on the Final Fantasy X Ending Movie video to reminiscence about the “days of yore”, only to have my moment of “retro” nostalgia interrupted by a 1 minute and 41 second, “un-skippable” advertisement by Microsoft that basically reduced me to a blubbering hot mess, even before being able to view the movie that was meant to reduced me to a blubbering hot mess – An advert about the 90s!
If you’re a member of generation Y such as myself, get the tissues ready, draw the curtains and continue reading to re-live the golden days when everything was just perfect, and troubles melted like lemon drops…or in my case, cherry drops and Murray mints *weeps*.
As Blaise Pascal said, “In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe and enough shadows to blind those who don’t.”
Stay strong, keep believing it will get better & don’t give up! x
2012 was sadly a dry year when it came to buying beautiful things. But you know the saying, “all good things come to those who wait”, well that pretty much sums up what happened two days ago, when I suddenly and unexplainably awoke at 8am and decided to surf the Mr Porter 80% off sale on my mobile phone looking for a new everyday leather tote/satchel, only to bag (forgive me), this A+MAZING, ordained by the Gods and anointed by the holy ones, Leather Patchwork Men’s Holdall by Lanvin.
Aside from WERQing in the snow and being stranded at a friend’s house in London therefore unable to return to Surrey, I’m having a HEAP of problems with my blog
and current host.
Hopefully I’ll be back on track later this week!!!
I can always rely on Zara to find something that
falls apart after 2 washes almost looks and feels high end, fits perfectly, and costs next to nothing, and I was lucky enough to pick up this cotton/wool mix Long Sleeve Layered T-Shirt from the sale, with a wide neckline, elongated sleeves and crinkled fabric. *drools*
Although I’m desperate for the real thing, this is basically my Damir Doma/Rick Owens/Gareth Pugh/Ann Demeulemeester high street substitute, at least until the work starts rolling in next week!
Worn with here with black skinny jeans from Uniqlo.
The main item I’ve wanted from the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M collection since it’s launch, is now MINE! And I LOVE IT!
This gorgeous camel coloured wool coat is a re-edition of similar garment from Maison Martin Magiela’s Autumn/Winter 2012/13 men’s collection. Aside of the major difference in price, this re-edition features inverted lapels and visible white stitching, both of which add a quirky and unique twist to an otherwise simple double breasted coat.
Although cut straight and not tapered, it’s very snug around my chest and shoulders, but that’s more to do with my ever-changing build than the coat, and in all honestly I actually don’t think I would have felt too comfortable wearing a size up.
Styled above with Topman Navy Coated Twisted Jeans, and a Navy Ribbed H&M Zip Roll Neck Jumper.
If you remember, I posted before Christmas how happy I was to FINALLY grab a few Maison Martin Margiela items from the H&M sale, after having missed out on purchasing anything when the collection launched back in November 2012.
