AD CAMPAIGN: GUCCI SPRING/SUMMER 2013 BY MERT ALAS & MARCUS PIGGOTT

While Raf Simons and Willy Vanderperre may have failed with their minimal interpretation of Dior, Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott have succeeded with their simple Spring/Summer 2013 Gucci!

The brand harken back to the 90s with an uncluttered and sleek look that brings the bright garments to the forefront without losing sight of the “Gucci woman”, played here by the stunning Anja Rubik and Karmen Pedaru.

AD CAMPAIGN: GUCCI AUTUMN/WINTER 2012/13 BY MERT ALAS & MARCUS PIGGOTT

I tire of hearing the phrase “typically Gucci” when it comes to their advertising campaigns, it sounds so negative. How about accepting the fact it doesn’t need to be anything BUT Gucci!?

Anyway… True to form, Mert & Marcus have delivered an exquisite autumn/winter campaign – A gothic, dark and decadent series of photographs with a sublime set design and a hauntingly beautiful cast, alongside the equally captivating collection.

RIP THE QUEEN OF DISCO, DONNA SUMMER

Queen of Disco, Donna Summer sadly lost her battle to cancer today at the age of 63. I was planning on doing this post next week, but as it is one of my favourite songs & all time favourite commercial’s which features her vocals, I thought it would be my tribute.


Donna re-recorded her hit ‘I Feel Love’ with additional vocals upon director Chris Cunningham’s request and the results were simply breathtaking! The setting, Abbey Lee Kershaw in ecstasy, the blush lighting & Donna’s effortlessly ethereal vocals pulling the entire concept together make this one of my all time favourite campaigns.
