THE DESIGNER STEAL III

I love the diversity of products & designers on The Corner, especially when coming across a gem such the above piece. To keep you both warm & chic while we wait for this god awful weather in the UK to subside, here’s my third pick from foraging the world wide web for fashion deals.

THE DESIGNER STEAL II

While perusing the web this lunchtime & mocking up a geometric inspired window scheme, I came across this stunning tee from Browns. A quick illustrator sketch later & here’s my second pick from foraging the world wide web for fashion deals.

COVER: SEAN O’PRY, CLEMENT CHABERNAUD, NOAH MILLS ET AL BY MARK SELIGER & NICHOLAS PRAKAS, DETAILS, MARCH 2014

Having become accustomed to the standard uninspired Details magazine covers featuring the actor of the moment, I was pleasently taken aback by the sleek, perfectly styled & composed fold out of their March 2014 issue featuring top male models Sean O’PryArthur KulkovMathias LauridsenGarrett NeffSimon NessmanRJ RogenskiTyson BallouClément ChabernaudNoah Mills & Andres Velencoso Segura, all donning a colourful array of spring garments for this bold, clean & downright handsome cover.

COVER: KATI NESCHER BY PAOLO ROVERSI, DAZED & CONFUSED, JULY 2013

Enveloped in the wild flames of a printed Givenchy ensemble, an ominous Kati Nescher fronts the July 2013 cover of Dazed & Confused’s “Trash & Burn” themed issue.

Lensed by Paolo Roversi and styled brilliantly by Robbie Spencer, her slicked wet hair and ash tinged moonlit face give off an almost eerie necromantic vibe, which of course I adore, along with the drama of Riccardo Tisci’s busy chiffon shirt and twill skirt cocooned dramatically by the unruly torn paper stole.

The only thing that I would probably lose (as I have mentioned several times recently when it comes to the magazine), is that rather distracting cello-taped strap line but other than that, I do love me some dark and damning Dazed & Confused!

COVER: SEAN O’PRY BY PABLO ARROYO, ELLE MAN MEXICO, JUNE 2013

Who knew a staple white tee & denim shirt could look so damn good!

One of my favourite models of the moment, Mr Sean O’Pry stars on the unconventional, minimal but eye-catching cover of Elle Man Mexico, June 2013.

Photographed by Pablo Arroyo, it’s refreshing to see something on the new-stand more “blue” than “blue steel”. The lighting, the off-beat pose and Sean’s complexion against the pale wood of the chair and washed denim shirt are altogether a visually stimulating combination. It’s natural, classic but forward in it’s composition and attitude. For some reason it immediately reminded me of this L’Officiel Hommes Cover by Johan Sandberg, but maybe it’s the chair/stool/unconventional/neutral/blue aspect.

COVER: RYAN GOSLING BY MARIO TESTINO, GQ GERMANY, JULY 2013

I’ll admit, I’ve never quite understood actor Ryan Gosling’s appeal, that is until I saw him bring his A+ fashion game to the Cannes Film Festival back in 2012, and more recently playing the suave, slick and sartorially sleek ladies man Jacob Palmer in the film Crazy Stupid Love.

Living up to the strap-line, the actor is the epitome of cool in a simple white shirt and pistachio sweater on the cover of GQ Germany July 2013.

The colour palette is fresh, zesty and screams summer, while the trickles of text in various fonts surprisingly do not take anything away from the striking Mario Testino lensed image and those piercing eyes.

Side Note: Yes I’ve seen the Notebook several times and still didn’t get the fuss but now I want to be him.

BESOTTED WITH BOTTEGA VENETA

In case you missed my string of tweets a few months back (before I took a twitter break), both I and my inner Elven mage have a slight infatuation with Bottega Veneta’s much coveted spring/summer menswear line.

The collection boasts beautiful suede and silk garments, layered with cropped trousers and hi top boots, all in weathered rustic tones which convey both a seasonal informality and something rather otherworldly. Sadly being completely out of my poor homme price range, I can only really take influence from the garments, styling and colour palette but I thought I would share some of my favourite pieces that have influenced my SS13 wardrobe this year.
