COVER: LI BINGBING BY CHEN MAN, VOGUE CHINA, OCTOBER 2012
Posted on September 12, 2012
I really want to like the october Vogue China cover starring Li Bingbing, however there’s just something about it that really puts me off.
I understand the Chen Man lensed photography is for an october issue but the colours are just a bit too saturated and “halloween” like for my liking. It’s clear that that the six parasols alongside Li couldn’t help shield her from the rain, hence the “bad hair day” hair.
I do like the idea and compsition though but things such as the visible stitching on the dress look too tacky for something with the “Vogue” masthead on it. That was definitely one area where the overuse of the patchwork, clone and brush tool would have been more than welcome.
