COVER: RIHANNA BY MARIANO VIVANCO, ELLE UK, APRIL 2013
Posted on February 28, 2013
I never thought I’d say this, but I’m getting sick to death of seeing both Rihanna and this Louis Vuitton collection everywhere… the good thing is I get to bitch about it! *therapy*
Adding yet another fashion cover to the list, global superstar Rihanna cover’s the April 2013 issue of Elle UK, with not one, not two but THREE alternative covers wearing SS13 garments from Louis Vuitton, Prada and her own collection for River Island.
Check out all the covers below.
“A little bit of 60s and 90s supermodel” is how Fashion Director Anne-Marie Curtis described the styling of the two Mariano Vivanco lensed covers, with the mod/60s influence obviously stemming from the the Louis Vuitton crop top and feminine Prada stole and the “90s supermodel” being conveyed through her make-up and hair, and that *shivers* thigh split zipped floor length skirt and striped bralet from her ratchet River Island collection. Does it work? Eh!
While the second cover is tolerable, (thanks to the 90% “High-End” to 10% “High Street” ratio), all I see when I look at the first cover is ZIP! The second thing that comes to mind is how cheap and poor quality the skirt looks compared to the LV top. Personally, I believe the matching skirt from the Louis Vuitton collection would have worked far better here but I guess her new clothing collaboration needs to be promoted somewhere.
Lastly, what on earth were the Elle UK team thinking with that vile soft pink filter!? For the sake of the 90s, (and all things good and tasteful), they should have just kept it white.
The distinctly different subscriber’s cover is below.
