GUCCI INTRODUCES THE ‘CITY’ COLLECTION
Posted on May 26, 2012
Designed by Creative Director Frida Giannini, Gucci has been inspired by London’s skyline and released a chic but sporty collection just in time for the Olympics 2012…Make that paper baby!
The multicoloured collection includes bags, hi-tops, a watch, an iPad case, sunglasses and a mobile cover, all of which feature traces of bright green, yellow, black and white, along with a silhouette of the unmistakable London skyline taking centre stage. The brand says, “Details such as the multicolored leather trim and the leather ID tag encompass both function and fashion, true to the refined yet dynamic aesthetic of this exclusive project.”
The collection looks great and I’m relieved that Gucci didn’t do anything ‘olympic’ themed in the print as it would date very easily. The London skyline however is timeless.
If you hadn’t already guessed, my absolute favourite item of this collection has to be the multi colour leather high-top sneaker. It’s probably the one item that will discreetly draw attention to yourself by adding that essential ‘pop’ to any neutral outfit.
A release date or prices have yet to be confirmed, however expect the collections to hit both in-store and online within the next few weeks. More images below.
