On November 15th 2012, H&M will launch the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M collection across 230 stores and online.

“We are very happy to present MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA pieces with H&M, offering a new interpretation of our vision. The democracy of our fashion has always been at the centre of our creativity, and the collaboration with H&M allows us to push this instinct further. We will bring together the contrasting universes of the two houses in ways that will surprise all.”

Well this should be interesting. After Martin Margiela left and the brand was bought out by Diesel, many argued MMM became slightly more “commercial” so this collaboration is even more a departure from their elusive past. It’s exciting none the the less, however I’m not exactly sure how their deconstructed designs can be interpreted into high-street fabrics and prices without looking like an arts and craft project, but I guess time will tell. This venture will probably raise MMM’s profile a little and attract a few new admirers, especially if they are planning some kind of revamp next year…hmm…

In the meantime, here are some teaser videos released by H&M earlier today.

I’ve just realised, would these be considered the first ever advertisements for Maison Martin Margiela? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a campaign from them!
