Check out the images from the Junya Watanabe Spring/Summer 2013 Womenswear show at Paris Fashion Week, with some of my key notes on colours and influences below.

Junya Watanabe went for a “athletic life form” meets “Tron” and “Hellraiser” theme for Spring/Summer 2013, as otherworldly models donning futuristic helmets, pale faces and Puma’s searched their surroundings while on a sporty space odyssey. The bold and multi-coloured palette consisted of reds, oranges, grey, yellow, lime, lime, black, cobalt, violet, and white, while the primary focus was on the use of  hi-tech and synthetic fabrics through athletic trousers and tops with Vulcan shaped ear and Star Trek-like graphical outlines, which in context almost looked like an superhero styled exo suit, midi length dresses, the popular emphasis on shoulders, panelled t-shirts, tanks and layered with opaque elements, parka’s with hoods concealed within wide collars and paired with colour slit skirts, and finally to end our galactic treat, refined but animated items in black, bundled with mesh panels and zip details all of which were accessorised with glorious sculptural and spiked extraterrestrial silver helmets!
