LANVIN LOVING – MY TOP PICKS FROM MR PORTER.COM
Posted on May 18, 2012
Lanvin just exudes a beautiful French elegance that is worth every penny. Every season we are treated to a plethora of sleek, chic & timeless menswear pieces (yay for the Flower Pin!!!).
Here are my menswear picks from the pre-fall 2012 collection now available online at Mr Porter.com.
‘Unstructured’ is the key word here! Don’t let the colour or thinking its a one time wear piece scare you. You can actually dress this up or down. This Blue/Grey blazer would look beautiful with a white shirt & grey chinos.
I love a smart cardigan, it’s that all important piece to wear when you don’t want to be too overdressed. The forest green colour is divine and being double breasted makes it perfect for that day to night look.
Well since I featured one in my header & it is Alber’s signature piece I simply had to include this beautiful Grosgrain Bow Tie in my picks.
The combination of silk and cotton on a tee feels great on the body, hopefully your other T-shirts won’t get too jealous. This one in particular is slightly longer than most standard tees so best to keep it casual with slim black jeans. If you need to wear something over it, I would avoid a blazer and stick with something casual like a bomber or leather jacket. The contrast between a short casual jacket and the long length of the Tee-Shirt is total eye candy IMO.
Sleek, sophisticated and a beautiful fit. The slight sheen on these olive green trousers will add the high-end Lanvin feel to your look. The zipped cuffs add a welcomed playful element.
The word ‘Gunmetal’ just sounds pleasurable so of course id naturally pick these beauties. The embedded onyx adds that muted sparkle to the crispest of white shirts.
I missed out on a pair of Lanvin Hi-Tops last year, and I’ve been in itching for a pair ever since. These textured navy leather trainers are a dream! Let the trainers do all the talking and keep everything you wear else plain.
I’m an accessory kinda guy, and especially the odd brooch/pin, so it comes as no surprise that I’ve included this bright cobalt blue flower pin. Perfect to add that pop of colour to a dark ensemble.
For those guys who are still afraid of a bright flower on your label, how about this beautiful Hematite Crystal Tie Pin. Keeps your tie in place, won’t impair on your masculinity and that little shine from the hematite will be sure to catch someone’s eye.
I’ll be honest…I’m usually not a fan of black coloured suits or tuxes. However the slick details on this one really make me want to purchase it! The Slim fit, wide satin lapel & pocket trim are all stone groove winners. Rather than add a pocket square I’d have to be a tad quirkier and go for that delicious cobalt blue flower tie pin or, for those a bit more conservative, the off-white pin is just as striking.
