Check out the images from the Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2013 womenswear show at New York Fashion Week, with some of my key notes on colours and influences below.

Simple silhouette, stripes and the 60’s went hand in hand at the Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2013 catwalk, which was a far cry away from the over the top, theatrical nature of his 2012 collection.  The predominantly monochrome colour palette found itself mixed in with splashes of berry red and taupe, and by the end of the show were translated into thick circus lines and tiled sequinned prints. The primary focus was on oversized tees and “short” shorts, pelvic hung skirts and cropped tops exposing the midriff, (start hitting the gym ladies), two piece suits with skirts hanging below the knee with frilled clown collars on silk blouses. But it was the stripe that dominated, beginning with vertical red/white candy cane and horizontal monochrome stripes (similar to prison uniforms), which eventually distorted in true psychedelic fashion on the floor length, long sleeved dresses, and eventually led to a finale of shimmering mixed checkerboard patterned and sheer insert evening gowns, (which I adored!).
