PHOTOGRAPHY: “THE AGE OF IRIS” BY JEFF BARK, DAZED & CONFUSED, NOVEMBER 2012

*Bows to the Queen of quirkiness”
Standing as if she really does own the throne (well it is her house after all), and in front of plastic draped floral wallpapered walls, the wonderfully eccentric Iris Apfel dons Rei Kawakubo’s 2D red/yellow Commes Des Garçon’s creation while holding her tweety bird glass on the November cover of Dazed & Confused.
Check out the editorial shot by Jeff Bark, which sees the outspoken 91 year old in her uniquely “zen-meets-baroque style”, which she pulls off with such ease and finesse!
Absolutely floored! This is how I wish to be at 91 – Wearing pieces of art, surrounded by taxidermy and giving zero f*cks. I mean let’s face it, is there anyone more worthy to cover an issue titled “Art from the Outer Limits” than Iris Apfel, who is both the artist and a work of art herself!
And as if you couldn’t love her any more, check out a behind the scenes film of the woman in action from Dazed Digital.
