RODARTE WOMEN’S SPRING/SUMMER 2013 – NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Brace yourselves, it’s a bit much but you’ll get it in the end!
Check out the images from the Rodarte Spring/Summer 2013 womenswear show at New York Fashion Week with some of my key notes on colours and influences below.
Electric would be an understatement to describe this “rebellious, future medieval warrior queen who drives a Harley in the year 2035, but still likes to tend to her garden” look, and the colour palette of sliver-grey, teal, copper, cream, nude, tangerine, forest green and black was just as out there. The primary focus was on the combination of ornate and tapestry-like patterns but with a futuristic twist. Fringed leather jackets, S&M inspired leather trousers, flowing thigh-high split gowns with metallic chain mail-esque embellishments and epaulettes, jacquard print turtle necks with leather panelled details, and that whisper of baroque, all finished off with colourful and futuristic chunky heels, a grungy slicked side swept mane, and a cluster of ear candy.
