While designing a vector illustration for a client today, I suddenly thought to myself, “Are these becoming my signature style!?!?”.
I’ve NEVER ever considered myself an illustrator, and compared to the amazing talent out there, I still don’t. But I am beginning to fall in love with drawing these simple but stylish sketches, and so have many others…
At the end of 2011, while at a birthday party on New Years Eve, I said to myself, “2012 will be my year! The BEST year of my life!”. I was 25 years old, had just quit my job in London so I could help my Father recover from Cancer back in Surrey, was finally conquering my skin problems that had ruined my self esteem for years, and I had just started my own self employed design business while having magically conjured a heap of clients out of nowhere who loved my work! Things were actually looking up! Or so I thought….
Ever since I got over my
paranoia phobia of being photographed and put on the web, (and gained some nice comments and followers because of it), I decided that it was appropriate for me to do an award for one of my #TodayImWearing outfits that I either tweeted, blogged of put up on my FB page….That and I deserve some type of award don’t you think?
The 2012 #TodayImWearing Outfit Award goes to…
I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon of giving out some 2012 End of Year awards as most sites do around this time.
Granted that I should probably be the recipient of this award, especially with the disasters, bad luck and shameful behavior I’ve attracted this year, only celebrities, designers or those folk in the media are eligible.
So without further ado, The 2012 Hottest Mess of The Year Award goes to …
Christmas day is edging closer and I still haven’t done any shopping…for others at least…simply because I’m too busy shopping for myself thanks to little gems like this.
The first of my Maison Martin Margiela for H&M items arrived in the post today, and it’s this splattered (with paint you flithy minded children!) Confetti Trompe L’Oeil T-Shirt, a re-edition of a garment from the label’s Spring/Summer 2009 collection.
It was a bit of a disappointing time for me when Maison Martin Margiela launched their collaboration with H&M last month. Everyone was tweeting their purchases and there’s me sitting at my computer, with not a penny to spend on anything. The worst thing of course with these designer collaborations, is many people simply buy a bundle of items only to be resold on ebay at extortionate prices, leaving those who actually wanted to purchase the collection to wear, with no chance whatsoever.
After months and months of waiting, I finally caved and wore my faboosh Butterfly Print Sweatshirt from Topman, but not how I thought I would.
Originally planning to wear it this in spring with light colour jeans/chinos, plimsolls, boots or brogues (as seen in this post), I opted for a slightly dark and festive twist with a khaki wool trench, burgundy chinos and the edgy Versace For H&M Leather Hi-Top Sneakers which added a much needed “sting” to such a “soft” and airy print, that even Mariah herself would be proud of.
Check out each individual item here.
*Cue emotional blubbering & comfort eating*
Here’s an item of arm candy I’ve wanted for years, but sadly I was forced to choose between this and not eating for a whole month (and we all know how much I like my food!).
The renowned 8 stud leather and palladium/gold plated Hermès Collier De Chien bracelet has been worn by fashion’s elite all over the world, and is, in my opinion at least, the PERFECT accessory to add that goth-glam, high end edge to absolutely ANY look, be it with dressed down ripped jeans and hi-tops to a more formal evening gown or smart casual blazer and tee combo.
Sadly I think the era of the Collier De Chien bracelet has come to an end as I am unable to locate any online, which means it will truly be a Christmas miracle if one turns up under my tree this year.
The alternative option is to break into my BFFs chelsea apartment, threaten her with a banana, and as she moves into the corner of the room with her hands in the air, steal the collection she has…along with a few Balmain bits…
My over the top/only child syndrome wish list for Santa continues with these “they were made for me” Christian Louboutin Rollerboy Spiked Tartan Loafers available from Matches Fashion.
I posted a few weeks ago about my love of combining checks and tartans to create a “dapper mad hatter” look, and these beautiful red velvet trimmed, silver-tone spiked stunners with really have me standing out from the crowd in my own edgy and unique way. Plus I’m sure they would do some serious damage if anyone tries to push past me at the bar!
