AD CAMPAIGN: VALENTINO SPRING/SUMMER 2013 BY SARAH MOON

Valentino have completely surprised me with their latest Spring/Summer campaign…and in a very good way!

Shot by Sarah Moon, the brand’s usual romantic, classical and ornate look has unexpectedly been replaced with a cold, clinical and haunting visage, where the air is suffocatingly thick and glossed, and models Codie Young, Magdalena Jasek, Mackenzie Drazen, Tilda Lindstam, Maud Welzen and Esther Heesch have been convey a mood that is both morbid and melancholic.

Check it out here.

VALENTINO WOMEN’S SPRING/SUMMER 2013 – PARIS FASHION WEEK

A breathtakingly beautiful and classic collection, that stayed fixed to the brand’s roots but with just a slight hint of newness to stop it feeling dated.

Check out the images from the Valentino Spring/Summer 2013 Womenswear show at Paris Fashion Week, with some of my key notes on colours and influences below.

HARRODS UNVEIL THEIR “ONCE UPON A DREAM” DISNEY PRINCESS THEMED WINDOWS

Dear Harrods – EMPLOY ME!!!!!

Boasting one of the best festive schemes as always, earlier this month, luxury department store Harrods unveiled their spectacular Once Upon A Dream Disney Princess window scheme in Knightsbridge, with 10 members of Disney royalty dressed in one of a kind gowns designed exclusively by 10 high end fashion designers – Roberto Cavalli, Elie Saab, Oscar De La Renta, Versace, Escada, Ralph & Russo, Valentino, Jenny Packham, Marchesa and Missoni.

So put on that compilation from the 90s (when Disney made REAL movies with REAL meaning), and check out all the beautifully constructed schemes here, compiled alongside the stunning sketches from the creative team at Harrods.. Nothing says Christmas to me like childhood nostalgia!

COVER: MARION COTILLARD BY TIM WALKER, W MAGAZINE, DECEMBER 2012

Marion Cotillard adds some eerie drama to December as she cover’s W Magazine in a beautiful red Dior Haute Couture belted cashmere coat along with a Dior belt, ring and Atsuko Kudo gloves, while being groped by several hands from the wall behind her and working a severe black bob.

I absolutely love the Tim Walker lensed cover! And the accompanying editorial is just as great with the French actress wearing several designers including  Lanvin, Jean Paul Gaultier, Dolce & Gabbana, within a surreal, fantasy led, red hued “wonderland”.

Check out the “Red Hot” editorial here.

COVER: KARLIE KLOSS BY SØLVE SUNDSBØ, VOGUE CHINA, DECEMBER 2012

Three words – Hot…Christmas…Mess!

I know I’ve been longing for something festive when it comes to the December covers, but tacky is not what I meant! The usually stunning Karlie Kloss looks all sorts of wrong on the December cover of Vogue China. The model, shockingly photographed by one of my favourites, Sølve Sundsbø, is the victim of a major botched “cut and paste” job, along with some questionable liquifying and lengthening, and a powerpoint worthy drop shadow effect.

The only thing I love about this cover is the beautifully dramatic Valentino Couture Fall 2012 gown.

COVER: RIHANNA BY ANNIE LEIBOVITZ, VOGUE US, NOVEMBER 2012

That Rihanna reign just don’t let up…

Having secured yet another UK no.1 with new single Diamonds as well as dropping the official album name and artwork 2 days ago, Ms Fenty carries on her promotional onslaught, captured by Annie Leibovitz’s lens kneeling in a red Valentino Resort 2012 lace dress in the middle of a golden field for the November cover of US Vogue.

COVER: SARA SAMPAIO, VOGUE PORTUGAL, NOVEMBER 2012

Celebrating their 10 year anniversary, a coy looking Sara Sampaio covers November’s Vogue Portugal in a red laser cut leather dress, (which I am assuming is Valentino A/W 2012), red tights, patent red ballet pumps and an array of handwritten text denoting those featured in the issue.

Simply beautiful, I can’t actually fault it! Check out an equally beautiful preview image here.

AD CAMPAIGN: VALENTINO AUTUMN/WINTER 2012/13 BY DEBORAH TURBERVILLE

Valentino take us to the “Jewel of Sicilian Baroque architecture”, the extremley opulent Palazzao Valguarner-Gargi in Palermo, Sicily for their Deborah Tuberville lensed Autumer/Winter campaign starring models Frida Gustavsson, Jac Jagaciak and Caroline Brasch Nielsen. And while the set may be fabulous in all its gilded glory, I can’t help but feel that the campaign has a whole fall flat due to the detached models.

Check it out.
