COVER: TINA TURNER BY CLAUDIA KNOEPFEL & STEFAN INDLEKOFER, VOGUE GERMANY, APRIL 2013

Draped in a navy Giorgio Armani gown, music legend Tina Turner graces the cover of Vogue Germany’s April issue accompanied by the rather clichéd but fitting title, “Simply The Best”, in a striking tangerine hue.

COVER: SARAH JESSICA PARKER BY JEAN PAUL PIETRU, HARPER’S BAZAAR CHINA, MARCH 2013

Sarah Jessica Parker becomes my first 2013 case of “when bad photoshop happens to good people”, with her Jean Paul Pietru lensed cover for Harper’s Bazaar China.

Even when you thought it wash’t possible, the actress’ face looks even more pulled back, “Dodge and Burned”, and feline-like than her controversial Sex And The City 2 poster, which is a shame because I like everything else about it.

With so many photoshop faux pas on magazine covers these days, I’d really like to know who on earth approves such disasters!?!?

COVER: SUVI KOPONEN BY MERT ALAS & MARCUS PIGGOTT, VOGUE PARIS, MARCH 2013

Like a deer caught in the headlights, Finnish model Suvi Koponen graces the cover of Vogue Paris for their “Avant Garde” themed issue.

The image, shot by Mert & Marcus, reminds me of a cleaner and sharper version of a the Le Noir shoot she previously did with the duo back in 2012. Either way, I absolutely love it, although for an issue of Vogue Paris that flirts with the idea of “the radical”, I’m not entirely sure how this relates.

COVER: IRIS EGBERS BY KEVIN SINCLAIR, VOGUE PORTUGAL, MARCH 2013

Kevin Sinclair lenses the vibrant Vogue Portugal March cover starring a red haired Iris Egbers.

In theory you would never quite think something like this would work but the messy orange toned “Milla Jovavich in The Fifth Element” coloured hair, against the tomato red background is a sublime combination, especially when paired with the simple navy textured dress, cluster of white roses and of course Iris’ flawless pale complexion.

As always the abundance of text let’s everything down, however I appreciate the use of a slimmer font here which allows the cover shot to shine!

COVER: ARIZONA MUSE BY INEZ VAN LAMSWEERDE & VINOODH MATADIN, VOGUE CHINA. MARCH 2013

Arizona Muse is a blossoming beauty in Chanel Spring/Summer 2013 on the March cover of Vogue China.

The gorgeous Inez & Vinoodh lensed cover, radiates softness and spring-time with Arizona looking far more feminine and optimistic than we’re used to seeing her. I adore the dreamy pink and purple hues that tie in with the floral motifs on the Chanel dress, and of course the 50s styling and lighting. Although at first I wasn’t too sure about the pose (something about her the tilt of her neck), I think there are enough positives here to balance it out.

COVER: KAREENA KAPOOR KHAN BY ABHAY SINGH, VOGUE INDIA, FEBRUARY 2013

As much as I am a big fan of Kareena Kapoor, I have to say her rather dated February Vogue cover is more than disappointing.

From the messy styling, (the Philip Treacy top hat is so unnecessary), the pose, the awkward crop, her expression and typography, everything here is just a big miss for me. I especially hate the drop shadow effect used behind the “KAREENA” title as for something that bold, it’s not necessary.

The only thing appealing about this issue is the “How to banish dark circles” article, not even the tulle Christian Dior gown the Bollywood beauty is wearing can save the Abhay Singh lensed cover.

Check out the behind the scenes video below, which actually contains much more suitable images for a cover shot.

COVER: LINDSEY WIXSON BY PATRICK DEMARCHELIER, VOGUE JAPAN, MARCH 2013

Lensed by the legend that is Patrick Demarchelier, top model Lindsey Wixson cover’s Vogue Japan, wearing a Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2013 dress.

I’m on the fence about this one. While I personally love the the green/peach colour theme, the chequered dress, 60’s styling, and the irony of the “Modern Girls” title, it’s Lindsey’s expression that bugs me along with the her pose, which adds a rather unflattering dimension to the dress she’s wearing. Still, it’s nice to see her land a Vogue cover!

COVER: SI TANWIBOON BY HANS FEURER, VOGUE THAILAND, FEBRUARY 2013

I’M BACK!

Now that I’ve moved to a new host, that can accommodate my drama all the traffic you beautiful people have been generating, let the updates begin!

Vogue finally launched their first ever Thailand edition yesterday, and what better way to  debut the iconic fashion magazine than with an ode to Thai culture starring model Si Tanwiboon, who dons a golden and ornate Philip Treacy creation.

The predictable but pretty cover, lensed by Hans Feurer, is obviously very safe but not very “Vogue”. However as it is the first issue in Thailand, I’m hoping for something a little bit more risky and fashion orientated in the coming months. I just hope they don’t just restrict the covers and content to just Thai culture and really mix it up a bit because the teaser image below is miles better!
