THAT AWKWARD MOMENT WHEN THE FAKE FLOWERS ON THE SET HAVE MORE LIFE THAN YOU…
Posted on July 6, 2012
It baffles me when brands use celebrities to front their campaigns and then proceed to retouch them to death….in Kristen Stewart’s case LITERALLY to death.
The Twilight star who has been Balenciaga’s new muse for the past year, stars in their Florabonatica campaign by Steven Meisel amidst 3d metal interpretations of wild exotic flowers and sadly looks about as lifeless and dry as Tesco value cracker.
I’ve been loving Kristen’s campaigns and shoots recently as that awkward converse wearing girl was finally starting to, (pardon the pun), “blossom” into the star she is…until now. Clearly Balenciaga only want to cash in on her enormous fan-base as this fragrance aims to target the “18-year-olds and up.”
Don’t get me wrong I like the concept behind the campaign but not only do the proportions of the set pieces all look wrong, the main problem is really the retouching, (why Meisel Why!?!?). She looks more like Rumer Willis with that jawline, how on earth could Nicolas Ghesquière allow this? *sigh* On a positive I quite like the styling, because that’s about the only thing which is typically “Kristen” to me.
Sorry K Stew/Balenciaga stans, but this is a thumbs down from me…
