A breathtakingly beautiful and classic collection, that stayed fixed to the brand’s roots but with just a slight hint of newness to stop it feeling dated.

Check out the images from the Valentino Spring/Summer 2013 Womenswear show at Paris Fashion Week, with some of my key notes on colours and influences below.

Feminine, exquisite detailing and an overtly romantic Valentino collection was on show for a simply stunning Spring/Summer 2013 with a focus on the Rome and the “cinematic idea of beauty”, with a woman dressing for no-one but herself. The classic colour palette comprise of black, midnight, scarlet, blush, nude, putty, brown, khaki, green, grey and white while the primary focus was on a dainty silhouette with couture like craftsmenship with simple knee length dresses featuring equally placed open seams coupled with a slick red leather outerwear that provided a wonderfully seductive and harder edge to the femininity of the collection. A silk navy trench, cinched at the waist with a thin belt, lace bib front dresses that exuded purity and innocence, buttoned up shirts coupled with gauzy knitwear and intricately embroidered skirts were a beautiful and wearable reinterpretation of the classics, along with gorgeous fairytale-like sheer weightless lace gowns, the lightness of which was further encapsulated by their dandelion and floral motifs, while others were embellished with fine beadwork in the most meticulous and awe inspiring fashion.
