VIKTOR & ROLF WOMEN’S SPRING/SUMMER 2013 – PARIS FASHION WEEK
Posted on November 16, 2012
If Princess Aurora was magically made real and took up residence in Paris, I’d imagine she would be rocking this spellbinding collection!
Check out the images from the Viktor & Rolf Spring/Summer 2013 Womenswear show at Paris Fashion Week, with some of my key notes on colours and influences below.
There was no escaping the “pre-raphelite princess meets Hollywood” theme for Viktor & Rolf’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection, which according to the designers, “was about a woman looking at herself in the mirror and breaking away from her self-image and getting into a different world.” The colour palette which began with a story of black, white and slithers of silver, developed into lilac, wheat, coral and nude, while retaining “mirror motifs” fit for an Evil Queen. The primary focus was on the dream-like and surreal world with an emphasis on shoulders and the waist, with crimped haired models wearing floor sweeping gowns embellished with metallic details, sleek grecian column dresses cinched at the waist, pleated georgette skirts, metallic lamé fabrics wrapped and draped to emphasis the “mirror mirror” theme, sleeveless leather peplum jackets, floral motifs emblazoned on gowns, jackets and tops, evolving into the more commercial bombers, bow details and both long and short sleeved tops sprawled with the words “Viktor” or Rolf.”
I personally cannot wait to see some of these dresses on the red carpet!
