When I set eyes on the wreathed muses floating down the catwalk, my jaw dropped…primarily because this collection is so understated as opposed to the overblown eccentricity associated with the label yet it’s still fab!

Check out the images from the Vivienne Westwood Spring/Summer 2013 menswear catwalk at Milan Fashion Week with some of my key notes on colours and influences below.

A relaxed summer picnic with a lover amongst the sun dappled trees in England was the main influence here with the Vivienne Westwood man having an air of romanticism about him. The colour palette of whites, nudes, greys and navy with injected with splashes of yellow, tangerine, lime, green and cobalt blue through both prints and blocks. The primary focus was on the largely neutral palette with relaxed tailoring and oversized blazers with drop crotch trousers, but with the odd eccentricity we have come to love with more tailored suits in over the top check patterns, asymmetrical lurex cardigans, floral print trousers, shorts and shirts, garments adorned with the british flag motif in attract form, a statement food and fruit basket printed tee, white and blue printed slip ons that resembled the styling of a china plate, plunging necklines on worn in knitwear and finally bug/beetle/critter themed accessories and details, the bane of any british picnic, but a much welcomed highlight here.

Once again I have a shoe obsession – The white/blue slip ons, I’d most definitely be the envy of all picnic goers with those bad boys!
